Long Stick
The long stick teaches extension of the body, sharp direction and a continuous line of force. It is a tool that develops structure, root, timing and the ability to move in an open space out of stability and not out of effort.
Working with a long stick requires movement of the whole body together: hands, feet, center and breath. That is why it is an excellent tool for learning inner connection, intention and a clear connection between the ground and the hands.
The practice varies between patterns, basics, coordination and control exercises, and gives a feeling of space, length and precision that is difficult to develop without a tool.
The main points of the practice
- Continuous power development through the ground and center.
- Deepening in direction, range, distance and pace.
- Strengthening posture, shoulders and flexibility in movement.
- A natural transition from the basics to a flowing and safe practice.
